Walter   Albright walbright@asbury.org U. S. Marine 6126 Huckleberry Way New Market MD 21774 USA Anniversary November 12, 2007 is the 41st anniversary of the death of Major John H. Gallagher. From what I have recently learned about Major Gallagher, he was a Marine’s Marine, but more importantly a devoted husband, brother and father.
President Ronald Reagan once said of the Marines, “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference. The Marines don’t have that problem.” Major Gallagher made a difference. He made the ultimate sacrifice.
The loss of his life diminishes us all. But his memory and his spirit can live on in those who knew him and loved him. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. They leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same. I will never forget Major Gallagher and will keep his memory alive.
Semper Fidelis Major.

Semper Fidelis,
John Wear Sgt 3rd Tanks RVN '68 - '69
Jack and I were instructors in VT-21 in Kingsville, Texas in the late 50's and early 60's. I remember Jack as a fine family man, a smiling and happy Irishman, an exceptional pilot and most of all, an outstanding Marine. When I saw Jack's name on "The Wall", a number of years ago in WDC, I cried and prayed for Jack and his family. May God Bless you Jack. Semper Fi. You will always be remembered.

Mary Speir mgspeir@comcast.net daughter 8531 Heatherwood Dr Savannah GA 31406 USA Daddy
We miss you, Daddy, and we know that you would be proud of all seven of us. Your 41st anniversary is just days away. I only wish I had known that I could have left you a yearly message sooner. A day has not gone by that I have not thought of you. Even though you were only around for 12 short years for me, you made me who I am. My sisters and brother would love to meet anyone who has known my father. Our mother died six years ago and our memories of our father are so few. I love you, Daddy. Mary Nov 4, 2007

Walter   Albright walbright@asbury.org Fellow U. S. Marine 6126 Huckleberry Way New Market MD 21774 USA Major Gallagher I was with two other Marines when Major Gallagher’s Skyhawk went down. We tried to get to him to pull him away from his plane, but we were unsuccessful. His death has stayed with me for more than 41 years and only recently was I able to obtain his name. While I did not know Major Gallagher personally, the memory of that day has stayed with me forever. I wish I had more information, but please let his family know that he did not die alone and that he was with his fellow Marines.
If you would be so kind to let me know where he is buried, I would like to pay my respects.
