Remembering Jesse Singleton . . Contributed By Chris Onnen On Friday, March 08, 2002 I didn't know Jesse W. Singleton, Jr. personally, but I wrote to him when he was in Vietnam. Jesse was an SP4-E4, Army - Selective Service.199th Light Infantry Brigade. The last letter I received said that they expected to be overrun by the enemy that night and he would write more later. I received that letter in June of 1969 and now I know that he died in Long An, South Vietnam on June 9, 1969. Any info would be appreciated. I didn't know for sure that he was killed until I saw his name on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Peoria, Il. in the early 90's. I had always hoped he'd made it home somehow. I would like to write to his parents if I can find them. Thanks, Chris

Vietnam War . . Contributed By Rose Cerreta On Saturday, March 09, 2002 I do not cry at movies - that is, until today when I saw "We Were Soldiers". It was a heart-wrenching movie. I tried to recollect where I was in my life when this war started. I had had my fifth child, was busy raising a family, never even thought about the war. Now I will never forget it. I cried uncontrollably, thinking of the agony, the anguish those men experienced in that foreign land, fighting for what? I apologize to those brave people for not even giving them a thought. I will keep them and their families in my prayers. I thank them for what they did. It also showed me how senseless war is, the waste of human life, because men cannot sit down and talk peace. God bless all of you who fought in the Vietnam war.
