"Whole Hearted Thanks" By: Carol Gell Crowley There's a hole in my heart, That can never be filled. The wound appeared When my father was killed. A father of three, And loved by all, Courageously fighting, And standing tall. The first to arrive To Fort Benning he came. In a small wooden casket, Jack Gell was his name. The news was dropped onto A wife in despair. What would she do now? Without him there? The letters he wrote her, Explained his emotion. It was all about freedom, And willing devotion. His buddies were crying, As so many were, My dads last words. "Tell my wife I love her." Each holiday passes, And I shall never see. The father I miss, That was taken from me. Take time to thank God, For your freedom and love. Remember those Veterans, On ground, and above. Thank you for being, The wonderful ones. The Fathers, the daughters, The mothers and sons. The whole combination. The sisters and brothers, The Veterans who served. All races and colors. To know why you served, Helps fill the void in my heart. To say "Thanks To You" Is merely a start.

Anyone who doesn't know about the upcoming Mel Gibson/ Randall Wallace movie MUST see it. It comes out March 2002. Based on the Ia Drang Battle that BRGAN the Vietnam War, this true story is about a brotherhood and family bond so close, so pure, so willing to fight for the fredom we all have. Freedom is not free.my father made the ultimate sacrafice. This story honors these men.and shows how it affected the loved ones left behind. My father was one of those heroes.After 9/11 there has been an outburst of patriotism, I have had it all along, and am proud to see us all pulling together, and supporting our troops. I missed out on so much. empty halls that never echoed my fathers footsteps. Blankets that would have smelled better if he had tucked me in, giggles and swings and tickling and cries that would have been caressed by his love.you see, freedom is not free. Let us remember all our fallen heroes. God Bless. 595th Signal - 36th Signal - 1/67 - 6/67 . Looking for anyone who served there. I was artillery, stationed with a signal unit. We were humping ammo for a mortar platoon in April 67 when I got blown off the back of a truck. I went down into the powder hole and landed on my back. I need a witness letter for my claim. My Uncle was on the Taylor and just wondered if anyone knows what may have happened to the destroyer.He and I have searched,but I heard a rumour that it was to be sunk off the coast of Hawaii.If you happened to be on the Taylor will you contact me? The years "67,'67','69 thanks! ps.welcome home!
