Teenager
. . Contributed By Michelle Lynch On Wednesday, November 08, 2000
My name is Michelle, I am a normal teenager to those who know me.but to those who dont.I am a very busy teenager. I have school, dates, and parties.but I also have AVVA meetings, VVA meetings, state council meetings, and my volunteering. I do all this and more. I have been in VVA since I was about 5, and since then I have been head strong with many different issues. I'm the type of girl thats not going to sit by and listen, without haveing my say. And the war is an issue I must have a say in. I know most of you are saying "What could I know about the War?", but I know more then most teenagers know today. I have listen to stories, memories, scrap books, old letters, and thousands of books. I guess it all started when I was first told that my father was a vet, I didnt know what that was and as a kid i didnt really care. But when we walked up to that wall, a solid black stone wall with small names carved in, and a tear fell from my farthere eyes it meant something. That was the frist time I ever saw my farther cry. Since then I have learned everything I can know about the war, and the soliders who fought. Along with my dad, two cousins served, my farther was the only one to make it home alive. Some say I'm just a kid, and yes I am, but I know more than a normal teenager does. The VVA has only made me stronger, in mind and heart. The vets have become my second family. And I may not be able to make it to every meeting, or event but I am always thinking of them, and they will always have a place in my heart. Every vet will have a speacial place in my heart.

Casualties after the war.
. . Contributed By Renee' "Fox" Walls On Saturday, November 11, 2000
This is just my way of thinking. I am aware that the wall is for our guys who died during the war, but if it is going to be called the Vietnam Veterans Wall, why not add all the soldiers who died because of the war. Today my father Ronnie C. Fox would have been 52 yrs old. He died not in the war, but because of the war. He died of lung cancer. The doctors stated that it was probably because of the "Agent Orange" that daddy worked in while. My father was in the Navy CB's. He is the one who went in after the "Agent Orange" was sprayed and made the roads and help set up camps. So as I stated above. This is just my way of thinking, but didn't my father die fighting for our country just like all the other boys and men over there did?
