I was looking for any one who knew my uncle who I never met. He was from Buffalo, NY. I know he was in the navy and that he died in 1968. Any information would be appreciated.

Conal was KIA September 21,1967. His body was recovered with 12 other Marines later. LCpl Jedh Colby Barker's MOH citation describes the action on that day.Conal got Silver Star. He would be in either Echo or Foxtrot 2/4 3rd . Were YOU there that day? Tell me what happened. THANKS-

LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY

During late winter/early spring of '68, I commanded 3rd Platoon Charlie Company 3rd Battalion 1st Infantry 11th Light Infantry Brigade. We operated out of LZ Liz in Quang Ngai Province. I was badly WIA 6/12/68 and evacuated out of country. I spent 18 months getting pieced back together at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. and was retired as a result of my wounds. I was 20 when I was hit. Were we that young and did we walk on the edge of a razor blade for so long? To all of my fallen comrades, I love you. "I have beheld the agonies of War through many a weary season; seen enough to make me hold that scarcely any goal is worth the reaching by so red a road."

I am looking for anyone who may have served woth my uncle in VietNam. He was with Company D,1st Battalion,7th Marines,1st Marine Div. He was KIA Nov. 12,1969. Jim was station at Port Hueneme, Ca. Seabees:base 1968-1978 and was in the Vietnam war Johnson also a Seabees We all hung out at the EM-ClubJim was from Long Island New York and when he return from Vietnam he stay a short time at the Ventura Keys. My cousin, Roger, served in Vietnam (as a Marine) from Nov.29, 1967 until his death on May 24, 1968. He was in Quang Tri at the time of his death. If anyone served with him, I would like to hear from you.
