Closing Ceremony at MOVING WALL Sept.ember 9,2000

My wife & I went to the MOVING WALL for the last visit as it was closing this Eve. As I walked back & forth helping those who wanted it to find a name,rub it on a slip of paper to take home with them. We cryed,prayed,told stories about them. I hoped I made it a little easier on all of us. Just before the closing ceremony was to start they asked me to do the benediction as the Chaplain who was to do it did not show. I told them I would be honored. During the ceremony different speakers talked. Then they asked if any Vietnam Veteran wanted to speak. A few spoke with teary eyes. Then the Master of Ceremonies read my story about our first visit to a MOVING WALL back in 1998. I was again honored. I did the benediction and it started to rain. They retired the colors. As we left it poured. We were soaken wet till I got home 50 miles later. As I put on dry things I started cry again remembering being wet for weeks as most of my fellow Vietnam Veterans do. I hope I honored all my fellow Veterans on that WALL and all of you. God Bless, With God Chaplain Flexer

Was with company B-2/503rd (ABN) 173rd BRIGADE. Last communication was 1 July 1968. Was extending beyond his tour. A very old and special friend that I have searched every where for. Please advise if you know where he is or what happened to him.

September 19th would have been Richard W. "Rick" Jones' 51st Birthday. Rick died June 27, 1986. He was with the 1st of the 9th Cav. 68-69. He was loved by all.

Charles Cook

My husband had a very close friend named Charles Cook while he was in the Marines at Camp LeJeune, NC in 1969. He was told that Charles was killed in VietNam while my husband was on leave before being shipped out. Years later another friend told him that he saw him, and that he was alive. I cannot find his name here, so there is a possibility that he may have survived. If anyone has any information about him please email us at condon@mlecmn.net Thank you.
