Sam  Downing sdowning08@gmail.com Friend, Ranger Buddy Largo FL 33774 Steve was a great friend. As my Ranger Buddy in Ranger School, it was good to know that he was covering my back, and vice-versa. To have him receive the Medal of Honor was no surprise to me he was always putting other people first. I have visited him at the Wall 4 or 5 times now, and his grave site at the National Cemetery in New York. I still miss him deeply. Oct 1, 2009
Tom  Schott tom.schott@gmail.com Friend 1117 Pinehurst Drive Norman OK 73172 USA Steve, how well I remember you from our days together at Spring Hill College. We were tight as ticks in the beginning and our separate fraternities did not diminish the love and respect I always had for you. My tears at The Wall for you reveal my heart. It still breaks for loss your family and many friends have borne when you gave your life so heroically. Dec 24, 2008

Paul E. Clifford pclifford@ghlaw.com High School Friend I went to Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY with Steve. He was someone we all liked and enjoyed having as a member of our small knit class. I was serving in Vietnam at the time of his death but didn't learn of it until years later. It is humbling to read his Medal of Honor citation. He was a true hero. Saturday, October 30, 1999

Manuel Pino 2/8 Bco 1st Cav-68-69 MPJR54@MSN.COM Fellow Army Vet In the rising and setting of the sun, we remember them. In the blowing of the wind and the chill of the winter, we remember them. In the opening of the buds, the blueness of the sky, the rustle of the leaves and the blanketing of the snow, we remember them. When we are weary, lost , and sick at heart, when we have joys to share , we remember them. For as long as we live they too shall live, for they are a part of us always. Saturday, January 28, 2006
During my visit to The Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC I searched and, found the names of my friends, classmates, neighbors etched into the smooth, black face of the Wall, an extraordinary outpouring of emotion became so strong. I was so overwhelmed with sorrow and pain that I could not hold back the tears for those heroes and their families who lost so much. Though my visit to the Wall was a few years ago, I feel that I left a piece of my heart there. To honor those who died in the Vietnam War and to say thank youàI created a small tribute to those heroes. Please click on the link above to view memorial website. Friday, February 17, 2006
