remembering a fellow corpsman
I recall John from Hospital Corpsman School Co. 67-41 graduated 11/02/1967. John joined class as a 'striker' as he had been on a ship rather than directy from 'boot camp'. John, thank you for the ultimate sacrifice and thank you for your service. A fellow Hospital Corpsman!

A Good Friend
Was stationed with John, in Key West, Fla.. He worked with me, in Naval Station, Dispencery, on sick call. Was eager learner and wanted me, to teach him all I knew. My wife and I would have him over, for dinner and we would go to beach alot, on days off. He loved Columbus, Ohio, that's all, he would talk about. I miss, our good times together.

Good friend in hard times
John and I were tight friends. We were with Mike 3/3 2 nd Platoon. We joked a lot and tried to make light of our situation. We spent nights in a poncho shelter trying to stay dry or digging a fighting hole. We talked about family and loved ones. John was a great Corpsman. I was with him when he died. I tried to bring him back but God hsd other plans. Doc Nash

A Fine Human Being
I met John at Hospital Corps School at Great Lakes in the summer of 1967 when we were assigned to the same company. John had come from the "fleet" as a "striker" corpsman at the Dispensary at Key West. During our course of instruction John and I became close friends. He was difficult not to like. He clearly loved being a corpsman and was among the few of our class that volunteered for Vietnam duty. To say volunteered is a bit of an understatement since he actively agitated for direct assignment. At the end of school we parted ways. I went on to Field Medical School at Lejune and as I recall John was assigned duty at the Naval Hospital at Great Lakes, where I learned later he continued to push for assignment to Vietnam. I arrived at Danang In December of 1968 and there learned of John's death. I understand he was within days of rotating home when he died. John was a very self possessed young man. He was fun to be around and stimulating to talk to. He was a good person and even some 34 years later his loss is palpable.
