I lived across the street from Johnny on Waco St. when we were kids. He was my best friend until we moved to Valley Center. He joined the Marines and I joined the Navy. I was stationed in Iceland when my mother sent me the article from the Eagle that he had been killed. I still have that article. Still miss you buddy after all these years.

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. “He which hath no stomach, to this fight, let him depart. But we in it, shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless you, for your Sacrifice!!!

I knew John when we were both kids. He was a couple of years older than me. Always treated me good. I remember he had a black baseball glove (why I remember this, I don't know). We played baseball at Waco Grade school field. He was the first person I had actually known, that was KIA. He will be in my memories forever.

John and I were in high school together at North High School in Wichita Ks. I did not know him really well but I do remember being told about his KIA in Vietnam. I remember him as being a very kind and caring person. We spoke on numerous ocassions. We had several classes together. He was friends with Stevie Rameriz, Charlie Mendoza and Ronnie Cruz. I Still Remember You
John dated my sister's best friend before going into the service. I was three or four years younger than John but he spent a lot of time at our house. He was the only one of my sister's friends that didn't ignore me because I was still "a little kid"! He would always come into my room and talk to me about my favorite comic book heroes who were Superman and Batman his favorites too. Anyway, I appreciated that when I was a kid. He was just a really good guy. I never really knew him all that well but just remember him taking the time to make me feel like I mattered. That meant a lot to me. It is a shame that he and so many others had to sacrifice so much especially at such a young age. I found out recently through looking at various websites that John's cousin was dating my cousin, Victor Badway, when he went into the Marine Corps. Victor was killed in Quang Nam in February of 1970. He was 19.
