John Wehr Wehr3@aol.com Professional friend, S-3/227th 118, Springlakes Circle, Martinez, GA., 30907, USA Above the Best, No Equal, In Courage and Commitment I served, with Major, Adams and flew, in his formations, in 1971. As the S-3, of the 227th, Assault, Helicopter Battalion, 1st., Cav., daily, I would discuss missions, with Maj., Adams and his operations staff. He was an outstanding officer, courageous in flight, loyal, dedicated, concerned, about his men and an example for others, to emulate. His loss of life, was a great loss and hope, that this loss will be treated, with the spirit and purpose of resolve, in the history books. The fighting men of Vietnam, were no different than any other era, of Americans, that wore the uniform and fought bravely, for their country. Saturday, February 26, 2000 |

I knew him, when we were both Cadets in the Army, ROTC., at Colorado, State University, at Fort Collins, CO. He was a year, behind me and graduated, in 1962, along, with another friend, Brian K. Skinner. Both, of these fine young men, perished way, to soon and will be missed by all, who knew them. Gone, but not forgotten. Tuesday, July 12, 2005 |

Donald Reid dsreid@plateautel.net Served, in his command @ 227th 1412, Arcineiga, Clovis, NM., 88101, USA A Father Figure and Commander I served with Major Adams, from August, 1970, until April, 1971. He was an excellent, commander and in many ways, a friend. I was, a sp-4 and flew, as a doorgunner with him, while we were based in Lai Khe, with the 227th, Assualt, Helicopter Battalion. He made, a great impact on my life, not only in the military, but afterwards. For 30, years, he has not, left my memory. I hope, to meet him someday, in the hearafter and shake his hand. I never had an officer, anywhere, seem more like, a friend and father. I think of him, often and hope, that his family, has done well. No greater man, ever gave his life, for his country. May God Bless all, who read this and know, that this man, was admired. Saturday, December 15, 2001 |

Jim Morton jomortok@cox.net Friend and comrade-in-arms
Bill and I served together, on our first tour, in RVN.. We helped form the 176th, Assault Helicopter, Company, at Fort Benning and deployed together, on the advanced party. After our arrival in country, Bill assumed command, of our 411th, TC., Det.. He tackled that job with the same, zeal and enthusiam, that he showed for every task, large, or small. Bill didn't, have a "normal" speed. Everything he did, was at max power with amazing results, every time. We finished our year, together and, I'm sorry to say, lost touch, after that. I was, shocked and saddened to learn of his death, when I opened the AAAA., magazine, one day and saw, Bill's picture and the accompanying article, about his receipt of the Medal, of Honor. We must assume that God had a very, important job and He called Bill home, for the task. No finer officer, no finer pilot, no finer leader of troops, than Bill Adams. The attached picture is, from his days with the 176th, AHC., as CO., of the 411th, TC., Det. Sunday, December 14, 2003 |

Randy Jones mississippibroker@hotmail.com unit member Southaven, MS., 38671, USA I only got to know, Major, Adams for a short time, after his company was assigned, to the 52nd, Aviation Battalion. I DEROS'd, on June 4, 1971. His death, was the last one, that I submitted, a report on, to group HQ.. When he would, visit battalion HQ., he always made a point, to speak to me, as he walked toward, the commander's office. That meant alot, to me. It was only, in the last month, or so, that I found out, he had been awarded, the Medal, of Honor. A feeling, of pride fell over me, to find, this out. I can say, that I met a man, who earned, the Medal, of Honor and not everyone, can say that. To his family, I can only say, that I'am truly sorry, that this happened. If this can be, of any comfort then know, that he was well liked, respected and most deserving, of this. He was, what a soldier, should be. Tuesday, March 25, 2003 |

Jackie Taylor ~Grateful American~ You, Sir, Have Not, Been Forgotten! http://www.geocities.com/rememberance004
During my visit, to The Vietnam, Memorial Wall, in Washington DC., I searched and found, the names of my friends, classmates, neighbors, etched, into the smooth, black face, of the Wall, an extraordinary outpouring of emotion, became so strong. I was so overwhelmed, with sorrow and pain, that I could not hold, back the tears, for those heroes and their families, who lost, so much. Though my visit, to the Wall, was a few years ago, I feel, that I left a piece, of my heart there. To honor, those who died, in the Vietnam War and to say thank you, I created, a small tribute, to those heroes. Please click, on the link above, to view, memorial website. Monday, February 20, 2006 |
