Kylie  Browne Since you don’t know who I am, so allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kylie Browne, a GATE student from the Pinelands Regional Junior High School. GATE is a program in my school higher than honors, and because of that, we get benefits, like going to Washington D.C. for a few days. We plan on going to the Vietnam War Memorial, and that’s the reason I’m writing this letter. My entire class decided to write a letter to the family of a lost war veteran, and I got Gabriel.
I never knew Gabriel, or that much about him, for that matter. But still, the blow your family must have took after hearing of his death must have been enormous. To think, dying in your early twenty’s. Crashing in a helicopter is a tragic way to go in a time of war, but at least his body was recovered, unlike those who went missing and never returned. Even though he’s gone, he died with honor, fighting for his country. With a place on the Vietnam wall and honor on his side, I’m sure he’s in a better place now.
We’re going on a trip to Washington D.C. this February. We will be going to the wall, and when I‘m there I‘ll look for his name. I can’t imagine how you must have felt (and still feel) about his death. This tragedy must be mind-blowing. But remember, you’re not the only one who lost someone near and dear to you during that war, and that he died as one of the most respectful things a person can be. A soldier. Feb 10, 2009

Francis Kaufman Just a few words to HONOR your memory today for the day you made the SUPREME SACRIFICE on February 15th 1971. As Sgt. Trujillo lay wounded a rescue mission was launched for him. Several herioc volunteers made a nighttime, monsoon rain driven helicopter extraction from the triple canopy jungle, visibility was virtually zero, but, through their mighty efforts Gabriel was lifted into the waiting arms of his fellow soldiers. On the return trip the helicopter crashed and all were lost including Gabriel. Yes, it ended tragically for all involved, but, think back to 1971, by now the best and the brightest had realized the war was lost and yet our soldiers were still doing their duty with BRAVERY, COURAGE and HEROISM. You, SIRS, who were all involved will never be forgotten. Saturday, July 05, 2003
